What the well log holds
The well maintenance log is built to keep your private well history in one place, including water test results, pump and pressure tank checks, and filter changes. It is meant to help you track what was done and when, along with linked records.
- Test results
- Pump and pressure tank
- Filters
See also well care guidance and the test log template.
Default test schedule
For private wells, CDC and EPA guidance says to test at least once a year for total coliform bacteria, nitrates, total dissolved solids, and pH. Septic & Well can use that as a default reminder basis and point you to the agency guidance page.
- Bacteria and nitrate yearly
- Full panel every 3 years
Review the well water test schedule for the reminder flow.
Keeping lab reports
You can store lab reports as photos and keep the values with the log entry so the history stays easy to find later. That makes it simpler to compare past results without sorting through separate files.

What it does not do
The log does not interpret your results. It keeps records and links you to agency sources so you can review the guidance yourself.
- No interpretation of results
This is not a lab result and not a safety clearance for drinking water. Use a certified laboratory and your state well program.
